Uniosun Law Students Say No to Gender Abuse

The Eminentia Class of 2025, comprising final-year law students from the Faculty of Law, Ifetedo Campus, took a significant step towards social justice today by organizing an outreach program focused on the rights of women and the girl child. The initiative, themed “Say No to the Abuse of Women and Girl Child Rights,” was conducted in both the local market and schools within the community.

The outreach program aimed to educate and sensitize market traders, students, and community members about the prevalence of gender-based abuse and the legal protections available to victims. The students addressed crucial issues such as domestic violence, harassment, gender discrimination, and the importance of education for the girl child.

Speaking during the event, the class representative of the Eminentia Class, Olarewaju Micheal, emphasized the need for society to actively combat abuse against women and young girls. “Abuse in any form—physical, emotional, or economic—is a violation of fundamental human rights. Our goal is to ensure that both women and young girls are aware of their legal rights and are empowered to seek justice when those rights are violated,” he stated.

Market traders and school students actively engaged in discussions, sharing personal experiences and seeking advice on various legal issues. Many expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting the importance of legal awareness in curbing societal injustices.
