BREAKING: UNIOSUN Issues Fresh Security Alert to Staff and Students

The management of Osun State University has urged members of its community to remain vigilant and comply with security measures following the prevailing security challenges in the country and reported threats of attacks on tertiary institutions by criminal elements.

In a circular dated July 24, 2026, and signed by the Registrar, Mrs Atinuke Ountunde, the university advised staff and students to promptly report any suspicious person, object, movement or activity within and around its campuses to the University Security Unit or the nearest law enforcement agency.

The management directed all staff and students to wear and display their university identity cards at all times while on campus and warned against admitting unknown or unauthorised persons into offices, classrooms, laboratories, hostels and other restricted areas.

It also cautioned members of the university community against spreading unverified information or rumours capable of causing panic, urging them to cooperate fully with security personnel during routine checks and other safety procedures.

According to the circular, staff and students should remain conscious of their surroundings, avoid leaving personal belongings unattended and comply with all hostel and campus security regulations.

The university further advised students to avoid isolated areas, particularly at night, keep their mobile phones fully charged with emergency contact numbers readily available, travel in groups whenever possible, avoid sharing real-time locations or travel plans on social media and use only trusted transportation services.

The management emphasised that the cooperation of all staff and students remains vital to maintaining a safe and secure learning and working environment across the institution.
