UNIOSUN students anticipate Christmas, share different expectations

As the year winds down and campuses empty, students across the six campuses are preparing to pack their bags with a mix of anticipation and joy. This Christmas season, the atmosphere on the university grounds is electric, as students prepare to head home for the holiday, reuniting with loved ones and taking a much-needed break from their studies.

Olofofo Uniosun conducted series of street interviews, where students shared their excitement about returning home for Christmas.

“Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, filled with joy, love, and celebration”, said Precious, a 300 level student of computer science at Osogbo Campus. She said it is a great opportunity for her to spend quality time with family and friends, exchange gifts, and create lasting memories.

Adesikun Seyi a third year student of Peace and conflicts studies at Ifetedo Campus said “I’m feeling good”.

“I feel blessed to be able to witness another Christmas celebration where I will be able to create more memories with my friends and loved ones”, said Odeshilo Richard a third year student of Criminology and security studies at Ifetedo Campus. “Most importantly it’s the celebrating the birth of my lord and savior Jesus Christ ” – Seyi said.

“It’s going to be a detty December ” said the president of the faculty of liberal studies, Moshood Ali a third year student of Criminology and security studies at Ifetedo Campus.

Although, for many, the festive season is also about reconnecting with traditions and the comfort of home. Dada Ayomide, a first-year Microbiology student of Osogbo Campus, also said that, “I’m super excited about Christmas break, It’s gonna be nice to take a break from all the school stress and just chill for a while. Plus, I can’t wait to enjoy my christmas chicken and go out with my friends and family to flex for a while before I come back to school”.

“Well, I feel good about it” said Awotunde Abraham a third year student, the president of peace and conflicts studies at Ifetedo Campus. “It serves as a reunion occasion for my family and as a means to revitalize my energy”.

Adio Susan, a second year student of Human Nutrition And Dietetics at Osogbo Campus expressed similar enthusiasm, “I feel so happy about this coming Christmas because I’m going home and also it’s just a few days after my birthday and I get to sing those melodious Christmas songs and of course I get to eat Christmas Chicken”.

However, for some, the festive season is about going home to pack food and money. “Oya I dey go house, sapa wan wound me for here, food don finish”, said Oke Oluwatoba a third year student of peace and conflict studies at Ifetedo Campus.

For some, the festive season is fixed with mixed feelings because of the test they’re having after the festive period and exams and loads of work waiting for them at home. “I feel good kind of, because Xmas will come and go, Na harmattan semester exam go remain” said Ola a third year student of physiology department at Osogbo Campus.

Dada Ayomide, a first-year Microbiology students at Osogbo Campus, also stated that, “I would also study during the break because test is coming”.

Adebayo Harafat a second year student of Human Nutrition And Dietetics at Osogbo Campus, “I feel so happy about this coming Christmas because I’m going home to see my family, I miss them so much but I feel sad because lot of works is waiting for me at home”.

Some people are of the opinion that they want to get break from the school shege. “I’m going to rate my excitement on the scale of eight over ten because I’m excited to go out with my families and also to take a break from this school shege “, said Favour a second year students of International relations and diplomacy at Okuku Campus.

However, the excitement isn’t just limited to family reunions. For some, the holiday season also promises the simple pleasures of rest and relaxation.”I’m feeling pretty indifferent to be honest, I’m a bit excited about getting to enjoy homemade food and having a few weeks to rest, but aside from that everything else just feels normal”, said Adigun, Adedife a final year student of English and International Studies at Ikire Campus.
