UNIOSUN Opens Applications for 2026/2027 Postgraduate Admission

Osun State University, UNIOSUN, has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its postgraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The university, in an admission notice, said the programmes cut across various faculties and include Postgraduate Diploma, Professional Master’s, academic Master’s, MPhil/PhD, PhD, Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Business Administration programmes.

The programmes are available in several fields, including Agriculture, Education, Humanities, Culture, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Basic and Applied Sciences, Computing and Information Technology, Law, Basic Medical Sciences, Renewable Natural Resources Management and Global Affairs and Sustainable Development.

Among the programmes available are postgraduate degrees in Animal Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management, Education, English, French, History and International Studies, Philosophy, Yoruba, Tourism, Theatre Arts, Linguistics and Communication Studies, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Political Science, Economics, Sociology and Criminology, Engineering, Computer Science, Law, Anatomy, Physiology and Public Health.

The university also listed a range of programmes under its Global Affairs and Sustainable Development Institute, including Sustainable Development Practice, Indigenous Knowledge and Heritage Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Climate and Society, Migration Studies, Environmental Management, and Disaster and Risk Management.

Admission requirements

According to the university, applicants must be graduates of UNIOSUN or other universities and institutions approved by the Senate.

All candidates are required to possess a minimum of five O’Level credit passes, including English Language and four other relevant subjects, obtained at not more than two sittings.

For programmes in the Faculty of Law, candidates are required to meet the applicable one-sitting O’Level requirement at the bachelor’s degree entry level.

The university further stated that candidates whose O’Level results were obtained up to 2018 must present their original certificates during screening, as Statements of Results and Result Slips will not be accepted.

PGD applicants

Candidates seeking admission into Postgraduate Diploma programmes must possess a minimum of Third Class in a bachelor’s degree programme or at least Lower Credit in an HND.

Master’s programmes

Applicants for academic Master’s degree programmes are required to possess at least a Second Class Lower Division bachelor’s degree.

Candidates with a Third Class bachelor’s degree may be considered where they also possess a relevant Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum weighted average of 60 per cent.

Similarly, candidates with a minimum Lower Credit HND and a relevant Postgraduate Diploma with a weighted average of at least 60 per cent may be considered.

The university noted that candidates with lower degree classifications may be considered for Professional Master’s programmes.

PhD and MPhil/PhD

For admission into PhD programmes, candidates must possess a Master’s degree with a minimum weighted average of 60 per cent or a CGPA of 3.50.

Candidates applying for MPhil/PhD programmes must have a minimum weighted average of 55 per cent or a CGPA of 3.00 at Master’s level.

The university stated that the MPhil/PhD programme runs for a minimum of one session, after which eligible candidates may proceed to the PhD programme.

Candidates seeking conversion to PhD must obtain a minimum aggregate score of 60 per cent at the end of the first session and pass the required conversion examination.

Doctor of Business Administration

For the Doctor of Business Administration programme, applicants must possess an MBA from UNIOSUN or another approved university with a weighted average of at least 60 per cent.

They must also possess a minimum of Second Class Lower Division bachelor’s degree.

Candidates with an HND of at least Upper Credit and/or relevant professional qualifications in administration disciplines may be considered, subject to meeting the university’s basic entry requirements and completing a mandatory nine-month postgraduate diploma programme.

Applicants with a relevant postgraduate diploma from a recognised university with at least Upper Credit may also be considered.

The university added that candidates with academic Master’s degrees in Accounting, Business, Management and related fields from reputable institutions may apply.

Transcript submission

Applicants who did not graduate from UNIOSUN are required to request their former universities or institutions to forward their academic transcripts directly to the Secretary, Postgraduate College, Osun State University, P.M.B. 4494, Osogbo, Osun State.

Electronic transcripts may also be submitted, but they must be sent through the official email address of the applicant’s former institution to ensure authenticity.

The application form costs N20,000, payable through the Postgraduate College Remita payment platform using an ATM or Nigerian debit card.
