Adeleke installs Victoria Samson as UNIOSUN’s third Chancellor

Osun State Governor and Visitor to Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Monday installed Mrs. Victoria Adunola Samson as the institution’s third substantive Chancellor.

The investiture, held at the university, saw Adeleke formally present the new Chancellor with the university’s laws and statutes after administering the oath of office.

“I have the greatest pleasure to formally install you as the third substantive Chancellor of Osun State University and present you with the scroll containing the university laws,” the governor said.

He congratulated Samson on her appointment and wished her a successful tenure.

In her acceptance speech, the new Chancellor described her appointment as a rare privilege and an honour, saying the office extends beyond ceremonial duties.

“Serving as Chancellor is more than a ceremonial responsibility. It is an opportunity to invest in the future through education,” she said.

Samson pledged to support the university’s pursuit of academic excellence, innovation, character development and nation-building.

She also expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve, promising to work with the university community to advance its vision.

The immediate past Chancellor, who completed a 10-year tenure from March 2016 to March 2026, congratulated Samson and urged her to build on the institution’s achievements.

Describing leadership as “a relay, not a race,” the former Chancellor expressed confidence in her successor’s ability to strengthen the university and prayed for wisdom, strength and grace to guide the institution.

She further expressed hope that the new Chancellor would oversee the effective operation of the university’s 250-bed hospital donated to support healthcare delivery and medical education.

She also urged members of the university community to uphold excellence, integrity, diligence and unity while remaining committed to producing graduates distinguished in learning, character and service to humanity.
