Student leaders of Osun State University have intensified advocacy efforts against the hike in hostel fees and agency regulations affecting students across the institution’s six campuses.
The Deputy Speaker of the Osun State University Students’ Union Legislative Council, Hon. Adeleke Abdul-Qudus Idowu, popularly known as Hon. Innocent, disclosed this following a Parliamentary Summit held on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
According to him, the issue was jointly championed by student leaders across the six campuses on behalf of over 42,000 students of the university.
He explained that discussions on the matter were held in the presence of the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olamide Tiamiyu.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Innocent said the Assembly had acknowledged receiving letters submitted by the students regarding the hostel fee hike and agency-related concerns.“He responded that he had seen our letters, and that every member of the House had as well,” he stated.
The Deputy Speaker further revealed that a bill addressing the matter had already been passed by the House and would soon be signed into law by the Osun State Governor.
“He further informed us that a bill addressing the matter had been passed and would soon be signed into law by the Executive Governor of the State,” he added.
Hon. Innocent noted that the development serves as reassurance that student leaders remain committed to ensuring a conducive and affordable environment for students across Osun State University.
