UNIOSUN Senate Re-elects Prof. Balogun as Council Rep

The Senate of Osun State University has re-elected Prof. Balogun as its representative on the University Council.Prof. Balogun, while reacting to the development, expressed appreciation to members of the Senate for the confidence reposed in her, describing the appointment as both an honour and a responsibility.“I write this with a deep sense of humility and gratitude.

This appointment is both an honour and a responsibility which I do not take lightly,” she said.She also thanked the University Council for receiving her into what she described as an important decision-making body of the institution.“I thank the Senate for the confidence reposed in me, and I thank the Council for receiving me into this important decision-making body of our great university,” she stated.

According to her, the responsibility attached to the position goes beyond personal recognition, noting that the role serves as a bridge between the Senate and the Council.“I understand that this role is not about personal recognition. It is about bridging two vital arms of our university: the Senate, which safeguards academic integrity and standards, and the Council, which governs and steers the overall direction of the institution,” she added.

Prof. Balogun pledged to ensure that the voice of the Senate would be represented clearly and constructively during Council deliberations.“I shall be committed to ensuring that the voice of Senate is heard clearly, accurately, and constructively in Council deliberations,” she said.

She further promised to represent the resolutions, concerns and aspirations of the Senate faithfully without distortion or personal bias.“My watchword will remain integrity, objectivity, fairness, inclusivity, guided by the statutes of the university, academic values, and the common good of students and staff,” she stated.The professor also stressed the importance of collaborative, transparent and student-centred governance within the university system.

“Our university thrives when its governance is collaborative, transparent, and student-centered. I pledge to contribute my part in upholding that standard,” she noted.“I do not undertake this assignment alone. I ask for your prayers, your counsel, and your support as we work together to advance the mission of this university,” she added.
